CONTRIBUTIONS FROM KEVIN JENKINSON
The slides below named “Austria” are taken from Operation Toggle Rope in 1966 (before FAVU) which was an expedition by around 300 Hampshire Scouts. Small groups were dropped off at various points along the River Danube and had to find their way through the forest to a central campsite near Krems. The three of us from the 2nd Ash (Kevin Jenkinson, Graham Wilson and Keith Watkins) teamed up with Roger Gear and John Hewitt from the 7th Aldershot.
The slides below named “Canoe” were taken at Send, near Guildford, on the River Wey. We had constructed some canoes over the winter and this was the first time we had them in the water. Most pictures involve Barry Jones falling in the river!
The slides below named “Llanberis” and “Rock” are from trips to North Wales.
After this, some more extreme rock climbing was planned but myself, Richard Tremayne-Smith and Clive Gear decided to go on a 3-day hike across Snowdonia instead. The slides below named “North Wales Hike” show some scenes. We climbed the next two highest peaks after Snowdon - Tryfan and Carnedd Llewelyn.
The slides below named “Snowdon” are from another trip to North Wales when we reached the summit of Snowdon via the Crib Goch ridge.
The final slides below named “Norway” are some of my own from the trip to Norway in 1968.
